Robosistem debuts its AS/RS in India

Turkish turnkey solution provider Robosistem Elektronik has entered the Indian market in partnership with engineering heavyweight Brady & Morris Engineering Co. Ltd. The duo will be offering automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) under the brand name Robostore.

Robosistem is a 10-year old company with a predominantly Turkish clientele. India is, in fact, the first overseas market the company has entered.

“We are also exploring Russia and other republics, like Ukraine, surrounding Turkey, as well as the Arab countries” informs Sedat Atalay, President, Robosistem.

“We started engaging with Robosistem about six months back,” informs Ganesh Iyer, CEO, W.H. Brady & Co. Ltd. “We have now completed our MOU, which currently includes scope for future technology transfer too. This will eventually turn into a full-fledge joint venture (JV)”

Further elaborating on the nature of partnership, Manoj Mathew Chacko, Head – Marketing, Brady & Morris Engg., says, “Currently the racking systems for the AS/RS will be fabricated and provided by us. However, the key component of the system – the automated stacking crane – will be provided by Robosistem.”

Robosistem currently has four AS/RS installations in Turkey with customers predominantly in the electronic and white goods manufacturing segment.

The company started offering AS/RS solutions about three years ago, prior to which they were heavily into turnkey projects, mostly in industrial automation. It has an overall staff strength of 90 in Turkey, with 8 employees focusing exclusively inn research and development (R&D).

Explaining the key requirements of an AS/RS system, Sedat says, “Speed is one of the most important factors. Our systems have a maximum horizontal speed of six meters per second, and a maximum vertical speed of three meters per second.”

He also informs that the maximum height of their standard AS/RS system is 18 meters, with scope for adding more height depending on customer requirements. The maximum load capacity of the automated stacker is 2.5 tonnes. Here again, he says, that the stacker can be designed to take additional loading depending on customer requirements.

The solution comes with its own integrated warehouse management system (WMS) that uses MS SQL Server as the backend. “So any standard ERP system with SQL Server compatibility can integrate with our WMS,” informs Sedat.

A fully functional AS/RS unit has been put up by Brady and Robosistem at the ongoing CeMAT India 2008 to demonstrate their technical expertise.
