Nokia tightens production and logistics

Nokia today announced plans to align activities in its Demand Supply Network Management organisation, which is responsible for production and logistics for its mobile devices.

While the nature of these activities are not known as of now, the company said in a press release that the plans will “affect” approximately 170 employees working in logistics, production management and production support.

While the company said that production employees at its mobile device manufacturing facilities will not be affected by this development, it has also announced targeted voluntary resignation package for 320 production employees at its mobile device manufacturing facility in Salo, Finland.

This package will be available from June 1 to June 30, 2009.
